Our Strategy
Our strategy is simple: we position students to succeed. They receive competitive offers of admission, comprehensive merit- and need-based aid, and graduate in four years.
As parents first, Capitol College Planning consultants know how special and stressful this time is for students and their families. That’s why our strategy takes a step-wise approach to empower students, set realistic expectations, and celebrate success!
Our consultants partner with students to explore career aspirations and curate a list of colleges and universities where they are academically elevated and optimally positioned. This means finding schools where students fit socially, academically, and financially, so they will thrive, graduate on time, and minimize or eliminate debt.
Meanwhile, our consultants educate families on the true cost of a college education, which can range from $100,000 to more than $400,000 before aid, loans, and interest, and work directly with parents to conduct a thorough financial aid analysis. Our auditing process allows us to estimate student aid index (SAI) (formerly expected family contribution/EFC) and strategically leverage financial assets, expertise, and resources to reduce financial burden. Families who invest in our process save an average of $80,000 over the course of four years.
When ready, our team files all financial forms, including FAFSA, CSS profiles, and school-specific forms. Our consultants provide a secondary analysis, this time of awards and offers, and guide families through a financial aid appeals process, when applicable.
We celebrate with students and families on Decision Day, during graduation season, and as they embark on their next steps. Families may opt to continue support with transition coaching throughout the freshman year.
Capitol College Planning consultants walk with students, providing meaningful guidance and encouragement throughout the college planning process. We believe this time belongs to students, and they are fully empowered to drive the experience. Our strategy is so successful that 90% of our students graduate on-time, in four years, more than doubling the national four-year graduation success rate of 40%.
